The White Hart Inn Moorwood Moor Wedding Photography
I can still remember when I first received an email from Mhairi, I was in the Lake District having some chill-out time when the email landed;
“I have had your website bookmarked for a long while, I believe your style of photography is exactly what we want for our day, I’m after natural, imposed, real smiles, perfect moments”
The bit about having my website bookmarked, its the first time that anyone has said that, and still sticks in my head when I think about the journey with Mhairi and Carl.
The day itself – crazy day, hectic day, things happening everywhere, characters laughing and joking, a bouncy castle to keep an eye on, summer heat to deal with, people having fun in the sun, people in the bar cooling down.. But let’s start at the beginning, the morning of the wedding.
With the ceremony time set for 12.30pm, it was an earlyish start for me with an hours journey to the White Hart in Alfreton the venue for Mhairi and Carl’s wedding.
The morning went quickly, with Mhairi and her bridesmaids Saff, Zara and Laura all having their hair and makeup done in the hotel at the venue.
When I arrived the girls were tucking into their breakfast – a favourite image of mine from the morning is that of Zara using a ballon box to eat her breakfast off – it’s all part of the day!
Carl arrived with his entourage in a big stretched limo; it was similar to something out of a carry on film, where people just kept getting out the limo!
Once everyone was out of the big American beast, they all headed off into the bar to grab a quick drink – as it was already very warm…
Another favourite image of mine from the morning is the image of all the girls helping Mhairi with vail, the light from the window and the chaos with all the hands everywhere – love it!
An emotional moment for Mhairi was seeing her Dad for the first time; this is always a special moment for any Bride and her Dad – I managed to get a couple of shots and then let them embrace and enjoy the moment.
The wedding ceremony was held in the Orangery at the White Hart Inn and with everyone squeezed in and the air-con turned up to the max, it was time to start.
First down the aisle was Mhairi’s Mum who was holding a little sign for Carl, next up the Bridesmaids and then came Mhairi and her Dad.
The ceremony was beautifully done, and despite the sun beating down through the big windows, Mhairi and Carl managed to get through the ceremony without too much squinting!
Once the ceremony was done, and the legal bits complete, it was time for Mhairi and Carl to walk down the aisle through the confetti as Husband and Wife.
The afternoon was spent enjoying the sunshine; the White Hart Inn at Inns Lane has plenty of room for kids (and the big kids) to run around, play hide and seek, play football and for most of the guests a lovely beer garden which is perfect for chilling out and getting out of the summer sun.
Mid-afternoon and it was time to head inside for the wedding breakfast, with the food first and then the speeches.
You can always tell if the speeches are going to include embarrassing footage or photos when a projector and a laptop are wheeled out, and for Carl – it wasn’t good news!
There were plenty of laughs and tears for everyone during the speeches. Mhairi’s Dad was first up with plenty of embarrassing stories of both Mhairi and Carl, mostly Carl with plenty of embarrassing photos, most of which I can’t show!
I think most people in the room will remember the emotional speech that Mhairi gave to her Grandma, pretty much the whole room was in tears.
After the speeches, we all headed out into the beer garden to have some fun on the bouncy castle and to enjoy the late afternoon sunshine before the evening kicked off.
First on the dancefloor to start the evening celebrations was Mhairi and her Dad doing the Father and Daughter Dance, you can see from the images below how special a moment this was for both Mhairi and her Dad, Simon.
Something that I always look for during the first dance or father and daughter dance is guest reactions; often you will have a captive audience focused on watching the happy couple dance for the first time as husband and wife, sometimes you get people filming on their mobiles and watching real life through their phone screens, for Mhairi and Carl pretty much everyone was there with them, watching and taking it all in and enjoying the moment with them.
Once Mhairi and Carl had done their first dance shuffle, everyone joined in with them; the evening then kicked off with some proper; ever so slightly tipsy summer disco dancing!
Mhairi, Carl and their two sons, Jacob and Harrison, are an amazing family, the love they have for their boys is special and I hope that in the years to come the boys get to see the images from their Mum and Dad’s wedding; I hope they get to see how much fun, how much love so many people have for their Mum and Dad.
Some kind words from Mhairi and Carl
“I cannot recommend Saywell HQ highly enough, Andy was just brilliant, he captured each and every moment with the most stunning photographs. He exceeded all expectations. From the first point of contact Andy is incredibly friendly & so easy to get along with, he put us straight at ease, talked us through the entire wedding day beginning to end, answered any and every question we had, helping us with any worries we had. On the day Andy was fantastic, he just fit in so well with everyone it was like he was part of the family. I would urge anyone who is looking for a wedding photographer to have a look through Andy’s work. We knew from the beginning of our wedding planning we didn’t want to have any of the awkward posing for photo’s & ‘say cheese’ that we’ve experienced at previous weddings, we personally couldn’t think of anything worse, and Andy’s style dealt with that perfectly, by not having the forced posed kind of photos & Andy’s eye for that ‘perfect’ shot, we have got some absolutely beautiful photos that we will treasure for the rest of our lives. The few posed formals we had were also absolutely brilliant, the pre-planning of these meant they were organised, exactly what we wanted with who we wanted & took the least amount of time from the day as possible. My personal favourite part of the day was the informal mini photoshoot of me & my husband later in the day, it was honestly so much fun I haven’t laughed so much in a long time, and the photos that have come from it are simply stunning. I am so incredibly happy with each and every photo, the entire experience & before and aftercare I would urge anyone looking for a photographer to get in contact with Saywell HQ. I can guarantee you Andy will provide you with the most perfect wedding photos, nothing but completely professional, friendly & patient, Thank you so very much Andy 🙂
